Bristol-based Louis Parker otherwise known as – XAETIS (pronounced “Zay-tis”) has been recognized as a man of many talents throughout his career and has risen within the drum and bass community. Specialist in combining the aggressive carnage of old school Neuro, new wave D&B, and dark thundering techy rollers. Synthesizing his twist of outer-worldly sounds from his past and current inspirations in drum and bass, electronic music, post-rock, prog/metal and psychedelia – these musical backgrounds along with his passion for bass music have quickly made him a noticeable name in the scene.
In 2018, XAETIS moved to Bristol to study Music Production at BIMM. This is where his love for drum and bass catalyzed, quickly becoming a noticeable name within the scene. “I remember going to a Jungle event at Motion for the first time in Bristol, and I just instantly felt like I was home…”.
Fast forward to 2020, XAETIS formed his label EXPEDITE Records with his partner Jon a.k.a. – ON|IT. This label targets the formerly unsung talent of the UK’s ever-growing Neuro / New wave heavy DNB scene. With a debut label takeover already taking place in 2022 and their events to begin their showcase in 2023!
His former influences include an eclectic mix of electronic music including the mesmerizing Boards of Canada, pioneer Aphex Twin, and electronic dance wizard John Hopkins. As well as an extensive post-rock and prog-metal background with bands the likes of This Will Destroy You, Animals as Leaders, Meshuggah, and many more. In modern times XAETIS has now focused his attention on some of the most highly regarded producers and artists in the scene such as Noisia, Current Value, Audio, Mean Teeth, Magnetude, Gydra, and many more. Taking all this inspiration XAETIS sets out to create some immense waves onto the scene with an ever-evolving and absurdly heavy sound.
Next to his Expedite label where he released his “Acceleration EP” and puts his music out regularly, XAETIS put his mark on imprints of labels like Ilusive Audio, Debunked, In the Lab, Stellar, Yamatai or his epos project “Leviathan LP” that was released on our sinful imprint in 2022.
XAETIS’s career is now at the tipping point, with ever-growing production abilities and work at the craft behind the decks. He’s landed festival sets at Darkshire in the Woods and Neuroheadz Festival. His performances have featured collaborative back 2 back sets with NIALLO in both Expedite and Yamatai takeovers at events in Bristol and London, supporting the likes of Gyrofield, Freshney and the Stellar residents!
2023 has started with a bang for this artist, and with some big shows to come alongside some of his best mind-bending music on the way – this year could be his most promising year yet!
